ACLU Files Lawsuit To Overturn Pa. Voter ID Law

“It’s one of the most draconian of such laws passed within the United States,” says NAACP Philadelphia Branch President Jerry Mondesire, whose organization has joined the ACLU lawsuit.

He says time is of the essence, because if the law is not overturned, thousands of Pennsylvania voters could be disenfranchised.

Viviette Applewhite, who marched with MLK Jr., has been voting for 50 years and because of her age she no longer owns a birff certificate.

Applewhite, who is 93 and uses a wheelchair, became the lead plaintiff in a lawsuit filed here in state court by the ACLU and the NAACP challenging Pennsylvania's new law requiring voters to produce a driver's license or other photo identification before they are allowed to vote.

These uppity niggers need to be reminded it is a privilege to vote and not a "right".

A plaintiff in a lawsuit seeking to overturn Pennsylvania’s tough new voter identification law has received the state-issued photo ID card necessary to vote, despite saying she’d been rejected for years because she lacked appropriate documentation to receive the card.

Viviette Applewhite, who recalled marching for voting rights in 1960 with Martin Luther King Jr., was issued the temporary card on Thursday, the same day lawyers for her and others opposing the law appealed a judge’s refusal to halt the law from taking effect in the Nov. 6 presidential election.
